As documented predominantly in “Navigating the Mental Health Network” and widely accepted universally, mental health care worldwide is grossly underfunded. To that end, I want to provide a list of mental health organizations and charities where anyone reading this can donate. The list includes predominantly national entities and to the best of my knowledge are reputable. Please do note that I have no direct relationship with any of these entities and can not vouch for all that they are or do. Please do your own due diligence as would make you comfortable. No matter your thoughts about my books nor my other work, please consider directing whatever monies you might consider for charitable contributions to be sent to one of the listed entities. Government funding for mental health care has recently been cut yet again and any financial support the community can provide is incredibly valuable. Further, I would encourage each and every one of us to consider giving your time to volunteer, especially at the local level, as your time is every bit as valuable as your money. I have no specific connection to any of the listed entities and receive nothing for posting such entities on my website. Finally, if any of you have a reputable organization or charity that you think is worth making this list, please let me know and I will do my best to include them. As a consumer of mental health care resources, your donated time and/or money is personally much appreciated. Thank you. The list is as follows:
A nationwide grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by mental illness, offering support, education, and advocacy.
Works to prevent suicide through research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.
Focuses on protecting the emotional health and preventing suicide among teens and young adults by partnering with schools and colleges.
Provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth under 25.
Funds research into the causes and cures for mental illnesses.
Dedicated to children’s mental health, with initiatives focused on improving access to care and supporting families.
- Mental Health America (MHA):
A community-based nonprofit that promotes mental wellness for all Americans.
A national organization working to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses and in communities.
A leader in the fight against anxiety, depression, and related disorders through education and research.
